In the main I'd leave them in the YA unless you want them for your senior team, you want to train them on individual nets in the seniors, you want to sell them, you want to scout a specific role as per the ME, or their training doesn't fit with your YA requirements. On that last I mean a given player may have 2-3 skills at 12+ and other skills down at 6-8, but if you're only going to have TT on the higher rated skills it may be time to scout a new prospect and see if that's a better fit.

50+ stars I think is best for U20, as the U20 are after the real top stars. Frankly at club level we can make do with top 25% quite easily, and scouting more players reduces the risk of rebels, and gives you more chances of players with those giant physicals, really anything over 20 stars is okay for a club, even 15+

Great this has all been a really big help. From now on I will bring it down to around 30* a player and save the 50+ for the U20 WC drive. Good to have the honor of a national in the squad after all.

Been spending some time on my YA over the last few seasons and for a div4 club it's really starting to pay dividends. I'm pulling 17 year olds who don't look like they'll make the cut, but otherwise leaving players in to mature as best as possible as they can actually help my side, and definitely my squad, at this point. Here's a few examples for you.

Adam Grubb (CSR 81k, TDSP 110):
https://www.blackoutrugby.com/game/club.squad.php#player=12683155
10 star pull - left him in, promoted him age 19 just before his birthday at just shy of 58k CSR. He's my starting full back.

Brayan Cresac (77K CSR, 102 TDSP:
https://www.blackoutrugby.com/game/club.squad.php#player=12507673
10 star pull - left him in, promoted him age 19 just before his birthday, again at 58k CSR.
Starts at hooker.

Maurice Cristie (77k CSR, 104 TDSP - Kicking 14):
https://www.blackoutrugby.com/game/club.squad.php#player=12028122
10 star pull, broke with tradition here and pulled him just after 18 as he could kick and I needed that.
Starts at 10.

Stu Beech (75k CSR, TDSP 103)
https://www.blackoutrugby.com/game/club.squad.php#player=12527439
10 star pull, usual drill re leaving him in, promoting at 19 at 57k CSR.
Starts on the wing.

Jesse McLeay (74k CSR, TDSP 102)
https://www.blackoutrugby.com/game/club.squad.php#player=12565812
10 star, usual drill, promoted at 19 with 58k CSR.
Starts at 8.

Dominic Illegitimate Love Child (70K CSR, TDSP 100)
https://www.blackoutrugby.com/game/club.squad.php#player=12148388
10 star pull just after his 18th birthday, at 44k CSR - again, needed his kicking.
Starts at 9.

Calvin Skinner (69k CSR, TDSP 104)
https://www.blackoutrugby.com/game/club.squad.php#player=12695824
10 star pull, usual drill, came out at 57K CSR.
Starts at 13.

Brian Constantine (66k CSR, 93 TDSP)
https://www.blackoutrugby.com/game/club.squad.php#player=12016055
10k pull, loved his intangibles and needed him in the front row so pulled him early at 18, with a CSR of 36k. Wish I'd left him in now as I didn't do a great job balancing his skills, but he's still useful and starts at tighthead.

Benjamin Redding (64k CSR, 103 TDSP)
https://www.blackoutrugby.com/game/club.squad.php#player=12326397
10 star pull on his 19th birthday, at 44k CSR.
Again, didn't manage his skill balance brilliantly but is still starting for me on the wing.

Dexter Poles (61k CSR, 97 TDSP)
https://www.blackoutrugby.com/game/club.squad.php#player=11881071
10 star pull, came out aged 19 at 30k CSR. Another in the mould of the previous too - I was hasty.

These were my first breed with level 3 scouts and youth coaches, so as I was learning how it all worked, they were pretty pleasing. Now, it's looking even brighter...

Rory Noseda (70k CSR, TDSP 103)
https://www.blackoutrugby.com/game/club.squad.php#player=13040282
20 star pull, I bought him up earlier (just gone 19) at the start of this season as I liked his intangibles for a potential U20 attempt. Despite coming out early, he came at 69k CSR - a new record. He's probably going to start in the centre, but has great jumping so may get a look at 6 or 7.

Buddy Yeldham (69k CSR, TDSP 102)
https://www.blackoutrugby.com/game/club.squad.php#player=13051182
10 star pull, stayed in all the way, just pulled at 69k - my record.

So here's my conclusions;
- For a long time, and likely for a while yet, I've been keeping players in so I can bring them out ready to play in my first team. 18 of my 25 players came through my youth.

- Pretty soon these players will start to lose effectiveness as my starters improve, but they're still coming through at great value for me - and may continue for a while if the changes to the YA have the effect they seem to.

- They've definitely been tweaking what can and can't be done with academies - I was locking players down at just under 60k when pulling them as they turned 20 - but the last two have been way higher.

- All I've done for the last two is manage their skills with more experience and yet they're way higher. That can't be all from the last couple of weeks.

- There's a couple of players in my squad that IMMEDIATELY hit 13 for a skill after the recent update so they were clearly hitting a ceiling - I'm very happy that that's been lifted.

- I think you used to be able to pull at 10 stars and do fine with that. Now, I concur from looking at my youngsters coming through that you need to spend more to get better. I'm experimenting at 30 and 40 stars, will try 50 next time I have someone with decent physicals.

- If this is interesting (I know it's long) I'll put more info down as the players develop. Happy to answer questions - and thanks for all the advice that I've read here along the way, it's definitely helped.

Matt

Thanks Matt, that decides it Im leaving them in the youth team for the long run to mature into awesomeness. And I was so looking forward to trying out my new lock! You should save up some 50* players for the U20 national side. season 22 week 2 to allocate your stars. We can make England great. Al

Biggest in my academy looks like he will promote in a season with over 100 TDSP, currently has 98 and I'm training 3 of his lowest skills. Im hoping he makes a high CSR… all depends on if i can encourage a kicking pop… Ill update when he is pulled.

http://d.pr/i/mYDz This guy is favorite for me to my beastiest player being trained in my YA. Will be my heavy prop. Hoping skills can be trained to 14. Currently training tech, speed, strength, stamina. Should get those skills up nice and high when he promotes. Hoping 80k.

I've got pretty high hopes for this guy considering he has only just turned 18.....I am going to set academy training to Strength, Speed, Agility and Kicking for a while to try and bring  his low atts up a bit. Playing him at 12 at the moment, but might be a nice flanker as well?

Connor Chalker (40 stars)
Right handed, left footed, in satisfactory form.
A collected player with controlled discipline, limited leadership, and despicable experience.

Stamina: Impressive (11)
Attach: Sumptuous (12)
Technique: Sumptuous (12)
Jumping: Admirable (10)
Agility: Moderate (5)
Handling: Impressive (11)
Defense: Princely (12)
Strength: Decent 8
Speed: Average (6)
Kicking: Despicable (2)

Total skill points  = 89

I wouldn't bother with the kicking, its too low to be worth it. speed strength and agility would be more useful, what is your 4th tt on?

Stamina, handling and then any of the 12 skills look a much better bet than kicking.

How do you want him to turn out is important too, if his untrainables are appropriate for a forward i would have stam hands strength speed/agility and maybe somewhere down the line push his def up a bit. Though it might be worth taking the whole squad into account with a training schedule rather than basing it all on one player.

His form is average. My other 111tsp guy has a less rounded skillset too so will likely come out with a higher CSR. He has 4 13s and 3 12s so expecting closer to 90k really.

Even more impressive, I had an 18 year old do the same, having not double trained anything!
