Cup Fixture
Hi Guys,
New to BR and still figuring it out and doing plenty of reading. I have my 4th round cup fixture tomorrow after making it this far with a lucky draw I guess with two guys who look to be going bot. The team I am facing is here -
http://www.blackoutrugby.com/game/club.squad.php?squad=31147#squad=31147&player=all
Looking at their 15 from the previous league fixture the team was all 60-70k CSR. The front row is lighter than mine and back row lighter/shorter. I also have bigger 10,12,13 than those guys but my players CSR range from about 30-60k. I am at home also, is it worth having a crack at these guys or putting out the youngsters and concentrating on the league (Although only 1 human team). The previous game their backs scored all their tries so is it worth going rush for example or drift? I was thinking of high PNG & driving tactics. Any advice appreciated and hope to make use of this forum and get involved as often as I can.

Re: Cup Fixture
the league will be decided in the playoffs where the top4 will battle it out in the final week. i wouldnt worry about that and go TNT against your cup opp. if you expect them to go high creative go MoM for your def. If you expect them to play high expansive go drift for your def.
i suggest playing by the book. And field your best team. Try to counter their tactics first. Only than look at their lineups.

also yes to drive and pick and go and lineouts if his backrow is shorter.... what about locks?
kick to pin him back, his backs will have to score from far out and hope his pack can win enough possession in that case.
not sure why by the book is required though.... unless your discipline is bad.... by the book gifts them easy ruck ball and if his backs are more dangerous you don't want them having easy possession
if your 10 12 and 13 are much bigger guys creative can punch holes as you have heavier guys hitting hard lines essentially against lighter guys.

Re: Cup Fixture
Thanks guys, went down 41-40 with my back row player knocking it on with a clear line at 83 minutes :-/ ! Damn! But have learnt a lot and think should of toned down the kicking in their half and kept hold of it a bit more. It was definitely my forwards v their backs and we did a job on them in the scrum. Pleased with a 1 point loss to a 6 point higher and league above team!

Re: Cup Fixture
Just to say I took all the advice you guys gave me and have been applying it. I would say just pulled my best result so far all be it in a friendly but won 22-18 against a Div 4 team with 3 x 100k players compared to my top of 70 and average of 35kish CSR, very pleased!
