How to solve an injury Empty How to solve an injury

So, my top lock got injured. Luckily not for long, but as my squad is only 22 members deep, I need to replace him.

So, how should I?

option 1) Transfer market - my replacement lock is a bit rubbish anyway, but I didn't really want to spend money this season. A tall, heavy lock is expensive, too.

2) Promote from the YA.

* I currently only have a lvl2 coach, for another 8 weeks.

a) promote a 0 star 200cm, 105kg lock.
b) promote a 0 star 190cm, 124kg forward (he could realistically be a lock, backrow or prop, no?
c) promote a 17y/o 5 star 192cm, 99kg backrow, who could also be a lock or a prop (last 2 games, 1.5 and 2 stars at 6)
d) promote a 17y/o 15 star 198cm, 117kg lock/backrow (last 2 games 2 and 3 stars at 4)

None of my matches while the lock is injured are against anyone to trouble me (outside of Monday friendlies), so I shouldn't need to bring in someone better.

Yet because of the lvl2 coach, I'm not sure I want to promote a potential lock and then have someone who could be very good wasted by having 8 weeks of lvl2...unless those 8 weeks aren't so crazily important.

What would you do?

Out of the two star guys, the 5 star one looks pretty crap, the 15 star one I don't know about yet, as he has only had one reveal - handling=medium.

How many stars would you look to use on a replacement? If say 20 stars and the replacement stays in the YA until about to turn 20 it wouldn't worry me. Your cup game looks like you'll win, and you play bots in the league until R5, so I might be inclined to promote either of the 0 star players just to avoid a $5k bot fine per game, I don't care which 0 star player they'll both be filth and probably fired once your starter is fit again (assuming no further injuries)

Broadly in the YA any player scouted for less than 10 stars, and any player not trained in a level 3 YA isn't going to look brilliant. But you're going with the YA and well on the way to a lvl 3 training setup. Once there I'd suggest scouting at around 30 stars a player with a +/- of 10 either way if wanted if hoping for giants Vs yet another centre/wing

Thanks.

Unfortunately, I can't promote today, hopefully I can tomorrow (I stupidly promoted at the start of the week, wasn't thinking).

Will probably go for the lock, then. Hope I get lucky. I have 31 stars right now, so I'll spend 30 on this guy, then by the time my lvl3 coach is in place I can promote the 124kg guy and spend 40 stars. Then I'll only promote 2 a season I think.

The week with regards to promoting runs Tuesday-Monday, so you'll have to buy from the TM (not worth it unless you're after a player anyway) or wait until just gone midnight on Monday (and I'd suggest until after wages are processed for the week normally about 00:10 Tuesday morning UK time) to promote from the YA. So there's a $5k bot fine coming for the friendly, but that's okay as the wages for a player promoted on Monday might not be far off that anyway and you'll be okay for the cup and the league game absent of further knocks.

If promoting a 0 star player they will truly suck, they would even if they had fours seasons in a lvl 3 YA. I had a 0 star player age out just the other day with I think 66, or perhaps 68 TDSP. I do though like the idea of promoting with 30-40 stars and having patience.

That's what I have to do then. There is a guy on the transfer market I've made a bid for, but he isn't available until October 11th!

Other than that, they're all either not good enough or too expensive (the problem with tall fatties).

So I'll be taking the $5k hit and promoting one of the 0 star guys tomorrow, to use in the 3 other games my lock will miss.

I'll scout the replacement using 30 stars and we'll see if I can get me a tall fatty Smile

I knew this season would be a bit of a disappointment...

Now I'll go and make another thread, this time on Youth training Smile

So, the 30 star scout ended up the right weight - 123kg. While his height isn't perfect, at 198cm, he would be fine for the backrow.

But then...he is timid and reckless...

So now I know he's not going to be great, but if he had to play, what position would you put him in so these attributes would be least likely to have a negative effect?

Ignoring a monster winger I'd say you have three choices. A tall prop, a short lock who ends up in the back row, or a back row. Many factors to consider, his skills, what you train in the YA, what nets you might have at senior level down the line, what your team needs...

For right now in the YA I'd probably put him at 6, but 8 is good too. If you want to limit negative affects then not perhaps the back row until tech, stam and exp are all much improved. Myself I quite like tall props, but if that skews your front row heights overly then lock it is. Unless you go full on for the monster winger.

It's more about that horrible timid/reckless combination. I don't like that...

Otherwise I'd probably pick him at 8 for my current team.
