I have two players on 10 sessions at the moment but just pulled a decent 17 year old who could be trained into a reasonable centre, my issue is that im running short on attack training sessions... what do i prioritise or should i wait and hire another attack trainer. or i suppose i could always sell him on

Attack: Reputable Defense: Decent

Agility: Satisfactory Kicking: Reputable

training as scrum half.
on 1 agility 1 attack 2 handling 1 stamina 1 kicking 2 defence 2 speed

Ollie Scullion

Right handed, right footed, in reputable form .
A collected player with collected discipline, moderate leadership, and despicable experience.

Stamina: Admirable Handling: Impressive
Attack: Impressive Defense: Admirable
Technique: Satisfactory Strength: Moderate
Jumping: Decent Speed: Decent
Agility: Decent Kicking: Impressive

training as fly half
1 stamina 1 handling 2 attack 2 defence 2 kicking 1 agility 1 speed

and centre prospect
Joseph Cooze
17 y/o (R7, D2) | 23,966 CSR | $5,759 p.w. | 183cm | 95kg | England

A psychotic player with controlled discipline, horrible leadership, and despicable experience.

Stamina: Decent Handling: Decent

cooze needs 2 agility , 2 attack , 1 or 2 speed , 1 or 2 handling , 1 or 2 defence .

and possibly a tech and strength net but they are secondary.

you could take 1 speed and 1 handling off klinger but i wouldnt choose to take any off scullion

And at least a TT stamina slot. Will also need patience whilst attack and agility start their long road to recovery, not a 12-16 week project. Nice pull though

I have a back who i use occasionally to rotate my players to save better players energy but recently he has been getting better star ratings than my better players. Is there a reason for this i have overlooked? or are his lower stats, somehow an advantage?

Its happened a few times with this player and i have another who outperforms a massively better player at 10. and a couple of backrow forwards where the difference is less obvious but seems to defy expectation.

example:

gerick
Stamina: Sumptuous Handling: Princely
Attack: Reputable Defense: Limited
Technique: Average Strength: Average
Jumping: Satisfactory Speed: Admirable
Agility: Decent Kicking: Average

outperforms

stickler
Stamina: Admirable Handling: Impressive
Attack: Princely Defense: Princely
Technique: Princely Strength: Reputable
Jumping: Moderate Speed: Sumptuous
Agility: Reputable Kicking: Limited

First things to check are energy and form, then experience. Also, are you playing all the games on the same intensity? Finally HGA comes into it and can be worth a half star difference sometimes.

E.g. Based on those stats alone, I'd expect Gerick to get around 4 stars, whereas stickler should be getting in the region of 5/5.5

Next few games, make a note of their form and energy before the game, and if you're still stuck, post them along with the players' experience and we can have another look. Smile

Thanks for the help, ill keep an eye on when they perform well and the differing conditions. Whats interesting is that stickler does occassionally get a 5.5 he most often gets a 4-4.5, but he does have less energy and geric regularly gets a 5 in several positions. I mainly use him as wing backup but at 12 and 9 he does almost as well... Ive got a coupe of other players where this happens, i might start a little log book to track stars, HGA, intensity etc.

there are a couple of players with odd stat distributions left over from when i first started who do disproportionally well it might give me some clues as to what skills are important and where. I have a player with agility of 2 but otherwise reasonabe skills who seems to do well above what id expect at 9 and 10. hmmm...

anyway, despite the stream of consciousness ramblings. Thanks Zec.

Next question then, and more of a training one. Just pulled a flanker out from the academy and its created a conundrum, he is a bit shorter than i like for a back row but his skill set pretty handy. Should i train him instead of my current trainee 7? here are the stats...

Current trainee
John Hibbert
17 years old | 34,026 CSR
Weight 100kg
Height 190cm
Joined 25 Dec 2012 3:20pm
Birthday Round 7, Day 1

Quite like him being a little lighter for getting round the park and stamina reasons. and he will age next week.

A conservative player with rebellious discipline, satisfactory leadership, and despicable experience.
Stamina: Reputable Handling: Reputable
Attack: Decent Defense: Impressive
Technique: Admirable Strength: Impressive
Jumping: Average Speed: Reputable
Agility: Average Kicking: Despicable

New boy
Solomon Keate
17 years old | 23,625 CSR
Weight 107kg
Height 186cm
Joined 9 Apr 2013 12:07pm
Birthday Round 6, Day 2

Shorter and heavier but has a whole years worth of training to come if i decide to switch him in

A timid player with collected discipline, horrible leadership, and despicable experience.

Stamina: Decent Handling: Decent
Attack: Decent Defense: Admirable
Technique: Admirable Strength: Admirable
Jumping: Average Speed: Decent
Agility: Moderate Kicking: Despicable

His stats are nearly as good all around as Hibberts but he is a whole year younger as he was scouted when i promoted hibbert. any advice guys?

Of the two train Keate, without question.

Just one observation, his CSR gains will be low for about 10 weeks or so I'd guess. But after that point he'll not only be, but also start to look the much better option.

Re: training help...

Long time since i used this thread but.... I have a decent player in my youth academy who could turn into a replacement FB for me and i was gonna pull him and give him some training, but this would ruin my current training plan. With the new soft cap coming in i was thinking of leaving him in the academy until he is 19 then promoting him and giving him a double kicking training (as well as maybe an attack or agility) to catch him up to a useable level. Would this be practical or a waste or training slots?

Any thoughts?

If you're going to do any kicking, which will not benefit every YA player, and certainly if doing double TT kicking, please ensure you've some scouted some kicking backs from R2 D1 next season.

Get some TM value whilst boosting this player. Ordinarily I'd back the most efficient training, but if doing it for the sale then kicking is a fantastic way to go.

@ WIng he has currently 91 Total skill points and 12 for def and hands, everything else pretty good, on current strength he would just make my bench but with another season in the academy followed by a season on double kicking would bring him up to a level i can use.

@ Tangy, I have been asking about scouting youths and star distribution in the U20 scouting thread so i may actually start training a single kicking in the YA because im going to be scouting to sell and it was recommended that kicking backs sell well.

Thanks for the help.

It was going to be my plan to train kickers, but that's on hold now until the next cycle. There's only so much that really sells for top value, high CSR (not so much TDSP), height, weight and kicking. And kicking is the easiest of those to be sure of.

I have a conundrum, I have won two auctions kind of by accident one was an error, but this Romanian guy will be trained as a scrum half.

Bogdan Spârlea
17 y/o (R1, D3)   |   27,477 CSR   |   $6,805 p.w.   |   174cm   |   93kg   |   Romania
Right handed, right footed, in reputable form Stable.
A timid player with flawless discipline, limited leadership, and non-existent experience.

Stamina: Reputable 9 Handling: Reputable 9
Attack: Reputable 9 Defense: Satisfactory 7
Technique: Average 6 Strength: Limited 4
Jumping: Reputable 9 Speed: Decent 8
Agility: Moderate 5 Kicking: Impressive 11

Any advice as to training program would be appreciated, Im thinking:
2 x agility
2 x hands
2 x def
1 x stam
1 x attack
1 x speed
1 x kick

this guy was the mistake...

Alfonso Seoane
17 y/o (R10, D2)   |   35,744 CSR   |   $7,820 p.w.   |   187cm   |   93kg   |   Spain
Right handed, right footed, in decent form Stable.
A collected player with collected discipline, horrible leadership, and non-existent experience.
Energy: Perfect %
Stamina: Reputable 9 Handling: Impressive 11
Attack: Decent 8 Defense: Princely 12
Technique: Satisfactory 7 Strength: Limited 4
Jumping: Average 6 Speed: Admirable 10
Agility: Satisfactory 7 Kicking: Reputable 9

Worth training? or sell him on when his contract is up?

tech and strength nets on the little fella could be nice

he already is short thus has an agility advantage and that = a rucking advantage in my mind so being good in tech and strength will maximise that.

if not rucking atleast keeping the ball in contact and mauling

Yeah ideally id have 1 on everything except jumping and a rolling 10th net between hands and attack but want to drag def and agility up a bit first. they are just too low at the moment.

just seems behind the romanian comparatively being a round 10 pull. but nothings wrong with him. Im willing to take advice, can still throw 10 nets on him. I was tracking him as second choice.

What do you think Tangy? he worth training?
