have you set your 1st xv? i can see you've set training. my advice though is to choose 3 of your youngest/most promising players and give them 10 sessions each. i would choose ricardo nuoto, reuben ennis and craig docharty - the younger the player the faster they gain csr + skills. for advice on what sessions to give them chekc out this thread:
http://brengland.forumotion.me/t92-training-programs

also the 'links and help' section - which is where i took that thread - has lots of helpful information for you to see

Pellew needs the training as he's an u20s hopeful Very Happy.

It's a bit overwhelming with all the text, could I suggest we do it position by position. Pick your 5 heaviest players and post them, then we can pick out your front row from that, then move on etc etc

If you want to train Pellew and try to get him into the U20 he'd need 10 x lvl 5 nets, not sure even a mix of your lvl 4 and 5 trainers would be enough.

Could well be training a player to try and make U20 isn't that helpful, or the most helpful thing, for your club.

OK, the first thing screaming out to me here is a lack of handling. And also that you need a new prop.

However, lets go with:

1. Habberly
2. Ennis
3. Ogilvie (very old, probably getting worse every match)

Next up, 4 tallest players please Very Happy.

Craig Docherty I would definitely train, 28K only just 17 with Aggressive, Flawless and Reputable is a good bag of nuts to have plus his weight, for me he'd be too tall to be prop although wing raggs and a few others are better to ask on this.

I would have him as a flanker or No.8 but his jumping and speed at horrible would def need to be worked on and it would be a long road to get them up there.

Bad news is his birthday which takes him out of contention for an U20 spot if thats your aim, if not he'd be great for your club and you would only have to train him maybe 2 1/2 seasons till he's over 100K then you could concentrate on another young buck to train.

I would also fire or sell (most likely the first one) Lamont Ogilvie at 34 and with a low CSR he is no use to you, get rid and buy a younger replacement for peanuts who is younger (under 20) and can gain CSR and at least get up to some standard through team training and some IGT.

And regards Pellew stick it out and see what happens when the U20's come calling if they do. As for Habberly I'd stop training him unless your planning on him becoming a Nat which is a long road and not great for your team regarding development. Nuoto is on course to become a good player for you so stick it out with him.

Ennis is okay but a little behind, to explain, unless my player has unbelievable non trainables (height and weight) If there not hitting 50K by there 18th birthday I'd move on.

So in short after that ramble I would train Pellew, Nuoto and Docherty

Additionally, sell/fire Ogilvie, Coot, Cayless, Brockless, McNeill, Leopard (once his CSR starts to drop which I'm guessing it is). Obviously not in one fell swoop but throughout S17 you should look to replace these players with much younger players (again U20) (aim for above 20K and if you can push it above 30K). This will mean throughout the seasons they should at least reach a decent bench or starter standard (depending on how you develop your club)

Massive thing that screams out is lack of jumping and handling, seriously think you need to consider your match tactics to compensate until you either train or replace players

The handling I can accept. I don't get what a lack of jumping has to do with anything though. I play rugby and I've played to a pretty decent level, how many people jump in a game of rugby?? 2 catchers in the line out and maybe the full back a couple of times a game

Probably just that from the list you've detailed even the taller players don't have high(er) rated jumping skills. And that could be an issue as just like in real life the lineouts are the biggest source of primary possession in the game.

Just one other on jumping, where BR does vary a little from real life is the player the ME selects to receive restarts does seem to vary quite a bit. In real life you'd tend to expect a lock or perhaps the number 8 to receive a restart, in BR it seems it can be anyone - on which basis you can argue jumping can help every player as restarts are a big slice of primary possession too. That said I wouldn't be one to advocate TT jumping, unless you either want a strategy based around U&U or other skills are so high across the squad that TT is off little if any use.

Sorry to be clear, not advocating TT'ing jumping or anything daft like that.

The point I was making was think about your tactics - be conscious you are unlikely to win much line out ball given the weaknesses of your front 5 players - i.e. Low jumping and handling. Therefore keep kicking percentages low and if it were me I would be make sure if my team was kicking it was for an up and under. Several of your backs look like quite well balanced and more than likely capable of competing for high balls (Caentwn, Boley, Agostan, Buchanan, Bardsley), certainly in the short term.

There are lots of reasonable players on the TM right now - I've only looked at forwards but hopefully it illustrates what has been said:

http://www.blackoutrugby.com/game/club.squad.php#player=12144006 (If you don't mind a reckless forward) (Second Row / Back Row)
http://www.blackoutrugby.com/game/club.squad.php#player=11896537 (Back Row)
http://www.blackoutrugby.com/game/club.squad.php#player=12115109 (Second Row)
http://www.blackoutrugby.com/game/club.squad.php#player=12145953 (Second Row) - Rebellious
http://www.blackoutrugby.com/game/club.squad.php#player=12145959 (Second Row) - Rebellious

Just to be clear, I have no interest in any of the above direct or indirect. Very Happy

Best of luck.

For locks i think if you have enough money you may need to buy some. Satisfactory jumping for a lock isnt good enough. My scrummie has that Smile. Look for at least princely+ jumping when you're out scouting the transfer market.

For me:

Davidson: Sell - Skills wrong for 4/5 and doesn't fit elsewhere
Coot: Keep - short term would play 4/5 medium term reserve
Constable: Keep - Back row
Aldren: Maybe 12/13 - not looked at other options

Only possible is Docherty but would need serious training.

I'd agree, go look on the transfer market: >200cm, >120kg focus on Str, Tec, Sta, Jmp & Handling.

Skills are dependent on budget and the division you are in & how much training you can give them. For me princely + would be a minimum for Div III upwards.

also i believe all forwards especially, and a few backs, need a good amount of tech, and out of all them constable has the only respectable amount. with perhaps coot if he were being trained may get away with it but only in div V

Some okay signings there.

Have a look tomorrow once the new leagues are sorted and you can see who you will be playing to figure if they'll help you scrap to avoid relegation, or can perhaps have a crack at 3rd/4th.

If you wanted to train Cashmore do it, and let me know how it goes. His stamina will need work as it's very low, so low if you don't have a stamina trainer I'd give double TT stamina some serious thought. And he'll need lots of tech being a rebel.

The 2 in you squad I'd say should be getting trained are Nuoto and Docharty. After those 2 pick a 3rd player if you want, such as Cashmore, or simply spread training until you get another player that's a stand out for training.

Agree Nuoto definitely is a prime training candidate. Not sure about Doherty - personally he doesn't stand out to take the slots. I'd be more inclined to leave him as a big No 6. With presumably Keogh at 8 that looks a beefy back row.

Boley also looks interesting as a prospect to consider training, very much depends on the trainers you have a 2 outright backs may suck up too many sessions. Finally I'd certainly train Cashmore.

I'd go TT Stamina, Tech, Defense and Strength, maybe rotate in some attack and speed periodically.

Just to add, just checked out the league and looks like I've demoted into the same one you have promoted too. Looking forward to seeing those guys in action Very Happy

See I'd be training Docherty and not Cashmore. Cashmore at 199cm/127kg is 7cm taller and 8kg higher, he's also a week younger. But Docherty is a little higher in CSR, has higher exp, and the big one for me Docherty is flawless to the rebellious Cashmore.

As before if you train Cashmore I'd like to know how it goes, on which basis I'd like it if you did put nets on him, but if it were my club I'd be training Docherty.

sabotage indeed Laughing . Seriously, any advice given was prior to relegating - happy to still give advice to Ormian, but probably best not to whilst in the same league (unless requested).

On a final point re Docherty / Cashmore. Docherty isn't a bad player, but for me his jumping/handling is going to take too much work for lock and his speed is too low as a start point for backrow. Cashmore is pretty balanced, agreed he is rebellious, but for me his skills out weigh that and the discipline can be compensated for by match orders to an extent.

Meeeeeeeat_, sure am - look forward to playing you.

There is an issue with his speed. But I wouldn't be looking to make Docherty a star. Put nets on him until he's 50K or so CSR, and then switch training to someone else would be my thinking.

Docherty would then tick over nicely on IGT and TT. Don't want to be too prescriptive on when you should stop training him, that may be as much about when you find the next player you want to put nets on as feeling Docherty has trained enough.

I would say if putting nets on a player make him a certain starter for your 1st XV before pulling the training, else you'll fall a little short. A mistake I've made myself more than once in moving into the next thing and ending up not training two players enough not just one player enough.
