Season 29 u20s and journo elections
So the latest round of elections are upon us, and this set sees the journo role up for grabs as per usual, and in this cycle the u20s manager's spot is available too. It's been a while since anyone but Roo held the u20 spot as he's led the team through three campaigns, one win and two not quite cutting the mustard for a number of reasons.
I believe Dazza will be running for the u20s spot, though there may of course be others looking to run, but to whomsoever nominated me I've declined as I'm not running, maybe next time, probably. I've opened this thread to have a place to house questions/comments on the election and candidates, hopefully it'll stay respectful, neither the journo nor u20s job are easy, and they both take a lot of time.
And just to round of this opening post I'd like to take this opportunity to thank both Roo and Dazza for the efforts in their respective roles of u20s manager and journo and of course to their support teams (though not perhaps the idiot who set the lineup/tactics Vs Wales)

I will not be running again, it has been good enjoyable and the World Cup win the highlight. But it takes up a lot of time and has come to an obvious point for someone else to takeover.
Good luck to whoever runs for u20s!

Thanks for all your efforts Roo, you've been a great representative for us.
Just don't focus on the league now, ok?

Re: Season 29 u20s and journo elections
Lets talk about Dazza for a moment.
Who is he? How much involvement has he had with the U20s so far? His speech has said he's been scouting and what not, but how much has he done with tactics and what not?
Dazza, no comment from you on this one just yet. Want to hear what others say first.

He's been helping with the general set-up for a few seasons now. I've not seen him post any un-truths.
Can't say that for all the candidates though...

I know, I don't doubt what he's stated, just wondering how much involvement he's had, whether he's been learning from Roo etc etc.

Re: Season 29 u20s and journo elections
Interesting. Do you feel your "bit here and there" has set you up well enough to take over the team?
I know that sounds like a bit of a shitty question, but the reason I'm enquiring is because it seems there can be more done within the national setup to make sure that we've a conveyor belt of talent of national managers, just as we do with the players. I should point out this is just my opinion based on limited facts, I'm no where near close enough to the national set up to know if this is the actual case.
I should point out that right now you appear to be the only viable candidate.

Re: Season 29 u20s and journo elections
I feel we are getting a conveyor belt of u20's manager's going as quind looks ready to take on the next bunch of youngsters and I may not be the most experienced manager running but I am involved already and not an outsider

Wexford said we should discuss Hopmans' Netherland's ban on the offsite...
So Hopmans, what happened to get banned?

Re: Season 29 u20s and journo elections
Its an interesting one, Jonesy has said that the first rule of being on report is you don't talk about being on report, but Wex has come in and said the second rule is you don't talk about it, except on offsites. Who to believe?

Perhaps a better subject for him to have focus on than the improved performance of the Dutch u20s once he was removed from office

Re: Season 29 u20s and journo elections
Is anybody really going to vote for him though? Doubt it, so not really worth getting in a huff about and giving him the legitimacy of extra questions to answer.
The shame about this election is it seems to me as someone who has recently rejoined the community, that England needs a lot of work to get it back to where we should be. There is little to no debate any more, engagement seems very low. I understand that in the background there must be quite a lot of work that goes on to ensure we have the players (at least I hope there is!! and we don't just rely on a numbers game to get the players we need), However from the outside looking in it appears that there is a lot we can do.

Re: Season 29 u20s and journo elections
Jim, I agree mainly with what you say, except people not voting for Hopmans. He's like the Donald Trump of the BR world, idiots keep on voting.
I've got a few ideas on how we can improve things and once the new journo and U20 are lined up, as long as they're not Trump I'll put my hand up to share ideas, make some suggestions and help out wherever I can.
PS. Jim, I'm Florida, nice to meet you.
