Care of WilfUK
I know I am going to get a ban for posting this here, but tbh I am too chuffed with finally solving this one, that I am prepared to be kicked off the game forever. I have been trying to catch this fella out for so long, but its finally clicked today(see edit at the bottom for the switch suddenly being flicked on)

It is a very long read, but its worth copying and pasting elsewhere, as I have a feeling only a few people will see this before it is deleted.

I finally put 2 and 2 together and came up with the mother of all TM abuse cases

http://www.blackoutrugby.com/game/club. ... y&id=73040 - sea view warriors - buys off waikato and then sells for massive loss of 500k in 6 weeks
Buys off penryn ilsanders and then sells for 900k loss 6 weeks later. Buys again of penryn for massive amount (800k non mp 17 yr old), no doubt sell asap and buy again.

He bought 3 players during time in br. 2 from penryn and 1 from waikato. All for massive fees.

http://www.blackoutrugby.com/game/me.lo ... y&id=64656 - now a bot manager
Used to manage - http://www.blackoutrugby.com/game/club. ... y&id=32048 - THIS TEAM HAS A NEW MANAGER, SO IS NOT INVOLVED NOW, BUT WAS BEFORE THE LAST MANAGER WENT BOT.
He bought 3 players off Penryn and 1 from waikato. All for excessive fees

All of the above teams are farm teams supplying cash. Most are linked in some way by IP, but all are linked with TM abuse to two teams!!!

I cant be bothered finding any more dodgy transfers as I have gotten bored of it now. Now onto the main culprits

Waikato7 - current manager of the Portugal NT
and
Darrenpellow - current manager of the P.I U20s

Both of these managers have cheated their way into the top.

Waikato7 has atleast 7 millions worth of transfers to farm teams. I know this because I have previously reported him and nothing came of it, simply because he denied any knowledge of what was going on(it could be more than 7 mill, i've not checked today). I was kicked out of the TM abuse report so that the GMs could discuss it further in private, but have since found out that nothing has been done about it yet.

Darrenpellow has atleast $17.23 millions worth of sales to the teams I have listed above. I am only half way done his transfer history, so there could be much more!!!
I have never reported him for the matter as I have only noticed his TM history today (2nd may 2012)

edit - I almost made a massive f*ck up and just left this alone. Waikato and darrenpellow share the same IP address. They are one and the same!!!

So why post here?

Put simply, the more managers who know about it, the more likely that these 2 managers will be punished for their continuous flouting of the rules.

There will also need to be consideration made to the P.I U20 and Portugal NT roles for if these managers get kicked off the game(which they should imo)

I have already proven that waikato was cheating, but nothing was done about it. He has since gone on to win the Portugal cup and gain the Portugal NT job. As far as the managers in Portugal are concerned, they know nothing about his cheating taking him to the top of the Portugal club scene. Since reporting him the dodgy transfers have stopped.....but

Darrenpellow has continued to abuse the transfer market since waikato was reported. He will soon be one of the strongest managers in the game, simply because he has an unlimited budget to work with.

I urge the managers of Portugal and PI to not stand for this blatant abuse of the TM. Both managers have both cheated their way to the top and cheated their way into your national teams!!! Report them, kick up a fuss, burn your bras in protest.......do whatever it takes to get them kicked off the game!

As for me, I'll await the GMs verdict on my behaviour for posting it here. But like I said, I am willing to accept a permanent BR ban to make sure that this cheating does not go unpunished.

I have had a look at this stuff and can see the point you are making. I am left with the following questions.
What could anyone get out of cheating?
The point of a game is to compete with others on an equal basis and see how you do?
I am still quite new to this game and have to ask if you think that this kind of thing is common?
I am real life rugby so it is possible that I am seeing things in a certain way but I cannot understand what satisfaction or pleasure can be gained from the success the type of behaviour suggested could bring.

It wasn't me, one of the Welsh managers, good on him.

I'd say it's not too common, but why? Because people think it's important to have the best team, but don't seem to realise that it's the satisfaction of doing it yourself that makes you feel good, not just having it.

Post by The Zec Thu May 03, 2012 10:22 pm

Right guys, just to be clear - from the standpoint of the BR staff - this is an exceptional case. Most cheating gets cracked down immediately when seen or reported. Silly offences get the three strikes rule. Think about it - some muppet tries to bid super high to give another team money - slap on the wrist, a fine, a "don't do it again". He does it again - crippling fine, "last chance". Does it again? Off. That's for the simple stuff.

What we have here is almost a masterclass in playing the system - he may have left a lot of clues but when the staff trawled through all the IPs that all his supposed accounts had used he only slipped up once. Nevertheless the staff have the evidence they need and once the interrogation in the abuse report is over, the sentence will be carried out.

Cheating of this kind is not tolerable, and staff do not see it as such - but put it this way, would you rather someone innocent was banned for "cheating" or a cheat got away with a fine and blacklisted?

It's a tough thing to police, but having read what's going on behind the scenes on this one - trust me, the GMs have it under much better control than all of you give them credit for.

Scandal in BR Empty Sorry

Post by Mega man al Fri May 04, 2012 6:38 am

Hello all I have a confession

I know Darren Pellow, I introduced him to this game so for that I apologise! Is it capable of being a cheat? As proved absolutely. Does he need to be booted? Yes. Please take into mind that he is a good enough friend to come to my wedding this year but I do know what he is like. Darren bless his soul will take the piss until some one stops him and that is how he lives life in general. He has had no job in 4 years yet has been on holiday 3 times this year (I'm sure he thanks you for your taxes).

I don't really know what to say but that he needs to be gone so I do hope at this catches up with him, I'm sure eventually unless he stops his general attitude to life he will end up in Prison. If your wondering why he is a friend so do I sometimes!

Stay Mega

Scandal in BR Empty Re: Scandal in BR

Post by GDBFC99 Wed May 16, 2012 8:53 am

Been reading this thread, couple of comments.

Surprised it got deleted really, even if it is against the rules, he obviously put a lot of work in and cared about it.

The original thread was not deleted but moved to the privacy of the report lounges since it was in breach of the game rules. It was then used for review by the staff and brought some new evidence to the table that partially helped to solve the puzzle.

how BR admins dont see this straight away is beyond me! I've had to learn alot and have ups and downs to get to where I am now, so bollox people can cheat so easy!

So easy? This was one of those complex cases that we already came through in the past and that takes time to investigate. Specifically, they used ghost teams that were buying their players at a given price (not too overpriced to avoid attracting attention of the regular managers who are our eyes on the TM) then sold them for a loss, thus regenerating some money and being able to buy again from them. There was no hard link for a long time between those ghost teams and the two managers reported, either through IP-sharing, computer-sharing or registration details. Fortunately they ended up, as every long-time cheater, making mistakes here and there that were detected in the end. Wilf3uk's effort to track them down over several weeks/months paid in the end. Why didn't the GMs do it themselves? Because we have our hands full. That's where the help of the community becomes so valuable. Do we happen to track similar intricate cases? Of course! We've locked more than 2200 accounts over the years and fined an even greater number. We see it all, believe me.

have had a look at this stuff and can see the point you are making. I am left with the following questions.
What could anyone get out of cheating?
The point of a game is to compete with others on an equal basis and see how you do?
I am still quite new to this game and have to ask if you think that this kind of thing is common?

I'm sure we could have a philosophical discussion about what pushes people to cheat. But the short answer to me after years of hunting cheaters is (in BR's case) "fast rewards". Some people do it for fun without the intention to harm anybody, some to p*ss people off or disrupt the proper running of the game but the vast majority of "our" cheaters do it to gain a quick advantage over their fellow competitors. You can jump the ladder pretty well in BR if you're a good financial planner and even faster if you can work the TM in an efficient way (buy low then train specific skills that sell high, plan ahead what people will be interested in buying, etc) within the rules. The plan being to make more money than others that you can in turn re-invest in better players, facilities and coach/trainers (providing you know how to use those players on the pitch and your trainers to train what you need). Thus if you find a way to illegally make a lot of money you can shoot up the rankings real fast. Some choose this way. That's a human thing I guess, people cheat in their real life and in their "virtual" life. Plenty of online games have to face cheating and BR is no stranger to that. We do our best to crack very hard on it and are on watch pretty much all the time.

The GMs are a group of individuals that was created a long time ago, have really high ethical values, a profound aversion for cheaters and have been working for free on BR for years. As I mentioned on the global lounge, we'll give you your marching orders if we believe you cheated us even if you just bought a 1-year membership yesterday (and you won't get a penny back). I trust them all 100% and would go on the rugby pitch with those guys any day.

As I do know this cheat I have looked at both his accounts and I have noticed he's lost Premium membership on both, am I to assume his accounts have been locked and it is only a matter of time before he disappears from BR? Despite being a friend it would be nice to know the eventual outcome of this so I could mock him down the pub sometime.

Yes suspended, that means he's lost his team and it will turn bot in 2 weeks, we can't erase teams just like that, that's a security feature to avoid losing teams by mistake. That's why you can still see the name of suspended managers for 2 weeks following their suspension. And why some might think the manager is not suspended (when he fact he already is). Same goes for inactive managers, they go through the 2-week period of "botification".
